Join us for the trek to Rupin pass. This moderate to difficult trek is an extravaganza for any adventure junkie. It is filled with a lot of surprises and thrills at each level. Each part of the trek has a completely different terrain. The complete route of the trail varies making you trek on the snow, from narrow routes to wide comfortable ones. You will navigate through the dense forests of fir as well as through the wide, thick patches of snow and glaciers. Walk along the small water stream in the beginning and then along the frozen water falls while reaching end. The variety here is immense.
Each online purchase entitles one person for this activity. Book quantity more than 1 for the number of people in your group.
We strongly encourage you to carry your own back pack. But if you opt to offload your back pack to a porter please select the option porter required while booking for the trek. The bag offloaded must be just one bag and total weight of the bag must not exceed 15 Kgs
Treks are conducted when there are enough people interested in it (more than 10 people). Please register early at the below link with your contact information so that we can co-ordinate.
Price listed (per person) is for a group of 20 people. As the number of people in the batch increases / decreases the price will vary. Once you have registered for the trek, and we have minimum set of people, we will let you know so that you can pay 25% of the cost upfront. The final payment needs to be done one week before the trek date. We will let you know the remaining amount that needs to be paid (it will vary based on team size).

Itinerary:
Day 1: Pick up from Dehradun railway station.
Whole day drive to Dhaula base camp via Naugaon, Purola and Naitwar. Night stay at Dhaula
Day 2: Daula 5,100 ft to Sewa 6,150 ft
12 kms. 6 hrs. Level: Long climbs with short gentle walks in between.
Day 3: Sewa 6,150 ft to Jhaka 8,700 ft
14 kms. 6½ hrs . Via Jiskun 7,600 ft. Level: Long climbs with short gentle walks in between.
Day 4: Jhaka 8,700 ft to Saruwas thatch 10,250 ft.
8 kms. 5½ hrs. Via Uduknal Level: Mostly climbs with one gentle walk in between.
Day 5: Saruwas thatch 10,250 ft to Dhanderas thatch 11,680 ft (lower water fall camp)
5 kms. 4½ hrs. Level: Initial short climb followed by easy undulating walks.
Day 6: Dhanderas thatch 11,680 ft to Upper Waterfall camp 13,300 ft.
3 kms. 3 hrs. Level: Steep climb.
Day 7: Upper Waterfall 13,120 ft to Rupin Pass 15,250 ft to Ronti Gad 13,420 ft.
9 kms. 10 hrs. Level: Steep climb initially, followed by a gradual ascending trail. Short sharp climb to the pass followed by a steep descent.
Day 8: Ronti Gad 13,420 ft to Sangla 8,800 ft.
12 kms. 6½ hrs. Via Sangla Kanda Level: Gradual to steep descent. Night travel to Shimla. Expected arrival time at Shimla 5.00 am(Day 9).

While there are adequate food provided on trek, some do feel very less energetic compared to others. So you can carry few energy bars (dry fruit pouches are better than 5 Star/Munch).
While packing, use bags to compartmentalize things and carry few extra plastic bags for wet clothes.
Carry a personal Leak proof Tiffin Box, a Plate, Spoon and Coffee Mug.

DOs and Don’ts
- A strict NO to your Denims – they are not suitable for treks, beside it adds weight.
- NO to Snacks, Colas, Alcohol and Personal Food – Don’t overweight yourself with them.
- NO to any Disposable Plastic Bottles, plastic wrapped/packaged items & Non Bio Degradable material.
- While at the trek enjoy the view. Do not litter and leave the place in the same condition for other trekkers and next generation coming after you to enjoy.
- Strict NO to touching or handling of any of the Sketal remains that you may come across.
We carry High Altitude Sleeping Bags with us hence please do not carry yours. We would also be carrying Alpine tents, ice-axes, and other equipment required for such treks.
- Do weigh your Gears post packing. It should not exceed the range of 8-9 kg – preferably on the lighter side. Anything heavier, you need to repeat and remove what is not essential.
- Travel light and carry what is essential. For example, toothpaste should be bought in small size (that can last you 10 days).The list given here are exactly what you need and nothing more.
Some Common advice about Clothing:
To protect you from cold, dressing in layers is the ‘Catch’. Two T-shirts worn one over the other is warmer than a T-shirt that is thick. 3 T-shirts worn one over the other is as good as a full sweater. This is just a suggestion. If you are prone to cold carry an extra sweater.

Nearest railhead is Dehradun. You can reach Dehradun by an overnight journey from Delhi by train.

Rail head:
Dehradun. You can reach Dehradun by an overnight journey from Delhi. New Delhi Dehradun AC Special leaves New Delhi station at 11.55 in the night to get to Dehradun by 5.40 in the morning (do verify the latest train timings). Wanderlust pick up is lined up with this train.
Base Camp: Dhaula near Naitwar in western Uttarakhand.
Best Season: May 3rd week to June end; Mid September to October end.
Temperature in May, Jun: Day: 15° to 20°C. Night: 4° to 7°C. Temp at highest camp, Rati Pheri: Day 5°C to 10°C. Night: 3° to -2°C.
Temperature in Sept and Oct: Day: 13° to 20°C. Night: 2° to 7°C. Temp at highest camp, Rati Pheri: Day 3°C to 10°C. Night: 3° to -5°C.
Rain: Rains start early July until mid September. Approach road landslides common in late August and early Sep. Usually repaired in a few days.
Snow: High snow in May from Saruwas Thatch onwards (3 days of the trek has considerable snow). Decreases in June. Comfortable snow during the last half of June. September has little snow. In the first week of October, the first winter snow is likely to fall in the upper reaches. Usually melts in a few days.
History
A high altitude pass across the Himalaya mountain range Himachal Pradesh, India. Starts on a traditional shepherd route from Dhaula in Uttarakhand and ends in Sangla in Himachal Pradesh. The path is located across mostly uninhabited areas in the Himalayan ranges at an altitude of 15,250 ft (4,650M) above sea level.
Rupin Pass trek consists of trails dug out of rock faces and wooden bridges, cut through deep dark folds in the mountain, glaciers and icy slopes, and over snow fields. Along the way there are expanse of green meadows.
Beside Gosangu by road from Shimla via Rohru, the alternate route to Rupin Pass starts from Naitwar, which is accessible from Dehradhun via Dhaula. Either of the two road heads, the first camp is Jhaka, the hanging village and the last stop for replenishing stocks and a look at the civilization. Traveling the Rupin Pass is a moderate – difficult level of climbing. The trails follow the Rupin river all the way to the top (Upper waterfall camp).
